Pump types

Vacuum pumps create the vacuum in the filter tank necessary for the regeneration of the hydrocarbons. Aker Solutions Cool Sorption (ASCS) offers both dry and liquid ring vacuum pumps for vapour recovery systems.

Dry vacuum pump

The dry vacuum pump (DVP) is relatively new to the market, but has already become well established. It is the preferred technology in an increasing number of applications. This pump is well suited for, and now widely used in, fuel distribution terminals throughout the world.

The DVP technology has a number of advantages over the conventional liquid ring vacuum pump:

• high reliability

• long operation life

• no glycol seal solution necessary

• wider application range of loaded products

• reduced maintenance costs

• lower power consumption.

Liquid ring vacuum pump

The liquid ring vacuum pump (LRVP) technology has been used extensively in vapour recovery systems. It remains the preferred choice in a number of cases.

The LRVP technology is available in a wide range of capacities, is very robust, of relatively simple construction and inexpensive in cost-to-capacity comparison.
