The top loading arm with vapour return line is used when displaced vapours need to be collected and recovered. Vapour recovery increases the profitability of the terminal. It also improves the working conditions for the operator and prevents pollution of the environment.
Vapour return with hose
The vapours are collected by a cone that seals the manhole of the road or rail tanker. They are transferred back through a vapour return hose. This hose is piggybacked along the arm to a connection flange. The long reach arm with D2000 swivel joints ensure easy manoeuvrability and accurate positioning of the cone in the manhole.
Vapour return with parallel arm
In stead of a vapour return hose, a separate vapour arm can be connected to the liquid arm. This parallel arm constructions prevents liquid or condensate being trapped in pockets. All movements are performed in parallel. This makes the arm move like a single arm, without considering a hose or separate arm. It also allows both the liquid and vapour arm to be heated and insulated.
Vapour return
Some liquids require a 100% closed system. The connection on top of the tanker are then via flanges or drybreak couplers. This can make handling hoses on height very dangerous. In these cases often a separate liquid and vapour return arm are used.
