Folding stair standard type

Folding stairs provide an easy and safe access from the loading platform to the top of rail or road tankers. With its proven design and 800 mm wide steps, this retractable type of folding stair is still the primary method for tanker top access world wide.

Safety measures and options

All folding stairs come standard with built-in safety measures like anti-skid steps, anti-jam provisions and guide arms. The folding stair can be provided with a variety of safety cages. These improve safety when working on the top of a rail or road tanker.

In addition to these safety devices, a range of options is available. Varying from a chain lock device and park position indication to pneumatic or hydraulic operation.

The Emco Wheaton folding stair is safe, robust and maintenance free. Its design is approved by the “German Health and Safety Executive Technical Committee".

Folding stair for dry bulk transfer

Bulk tankers for both granulates and powders are often loaded from the top. The tanker is parked underneath a silo which is provided with a fixed or vertical moving product outlet. For this application, Emco Wheaton has designed a special folding stair. The additional lateral platforms with hand railings and knee guides create a safe and easy access to the dome area.
