Breakaway couplers

The NTS breakaway coupler provides automatic disconnection of a loading arm or hose in the event a tanker accidently drives away. Almost simultaneously the product flow will be shut-off both up- and downstream. In this way the breakaway coupling

•   minimises danger to personnel and environment

•   eliminates the spillage of valuable and/or hazardous products

•   prevents costly damage to the transfer equipment

•   avoids expensive down-time.

Non destructive design

In contrary to the break stud type of breakaway coupler, the NTS series has a unique non-destructive design. This guarantees a fast and controlled separation. After a breakaway event, the coupler can be easily reassembled with no special tools or replacement of shear pins.

NTS series

The NTS series breakaway coupler comprises of three different types with the following trigger mechanisms

•  SZ – cable release ±360˚, pull force and pressure independent

•  PU – axial pull force ±90˚, pressure dependent or combi of pull force & pressure

•  PI  – axial pull force ±30˚, pressure independent

Wide variety of applications

The NTS breakaway coupler ensures the safe transfer of liquids, gasses and powders. The application is not only limited to trucks but also includes rail cars, ship to shore and ship to rig. For this purpose the breakaway is available in a wide range of sizes, materials, seals, and end connections.
